An electric bike is just like a regular bike, except for 4 main electrical components: the battery, motor, controller and display. Other than that, it will function and ride just like a normal bicycle.
The Bright Power eBike is a pedal assist bike, which uses the motor to increase the power created when you pedal. So it rides and turns just like a regular bike, it just makes riding easier, especially uphill.
When it comes to solar batteries, our manufacturer of choice is Bright Power because they offer excellent quality and affordability. However, we have close ties to other manufacturers in the industry as well, including GivEnergy, Solax and Sunsynk, so if you have a preference in manufacturer, do let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
As a general rule of thumb, you’ll need enough battery storage to provide power for at least two to three days without any solar input. This will ensure that you have enough energy stored to power your home during periods of low sunlight or during an extended outage.
Once you have an estimate of your daily energy consumption (you can find this on your energy statement) and the amount of energy your solar panel system can generate, you can calculate the amount of battery storage you need by multiplying your daily energy consumption by the number of days of backup power you want (usually two to three days), and then dividing by the battery’s usable capacity.
However, it’s not all about your solar storage capacity. You also need enough solar panels to generate the amount of power you need.
Please make sure to charge the battery once every 3 months if it is not being used for an extended period of time. This will help maintain the life of the battery. Failure to do so will result in a loss of range per charge.
A full charge takes approximately 6 hours. The battery is detachable from the frame so you can easily charge the battery when you are at home, work or even while you are sitting at a coffee shop.

The battery is expected to last about 2-4 years or around 500 charge cycles.
